KATHMANDU, Sept 30: The CPN-UML is going to revise the closed list under the proportional elections and submit it to the Election Commission (EC) tomorrow (Saturday).

After the secretariat meeting that was held late on Thursday night, Deputy General Secretary and Head of Publicity Department of the party, Prithvi Subba Gurung said the party is preparing to make some changes in the closed list and submit it to the EC on October 1. According to him, the party’s Chairman KP Sharma Oli has been given the task of making changes to the closed list.

He said, "The list under proportional category has almost been finalized. We have delegated the right to make further changes to the list to the Chairman. The central headquarters will do the work of determining all this and making the final decision and presenting it to the Election Commission through the party’s Election Department. We are reaching the final conclusion.”

He said that they have discussed the candidates for the 165 seats under the first-past-the-post system  but nothing has been decided yet.

Deputy General Secretary Gurung said, "We have set standards. The first criterion is that we will give priority to those who are popular. Even if a person has just joined the party, the circumstances determine the recommendation. We will decide on that after necessary discussion.”
