KATHMANDU, July 19: The CPN-UML Standing Committee meeting on Tuesday wrapped up with a decision to press for listing the budget related bills in the working schedule before the parliament starts debate on the no-confidence motion.

At the meeting held at Prime Minister's official residence at Baluwatar, UML Secretary Yogesh Bhattarai said it was meaningless for Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli to tender his resignation following the registration of no-confidence motion by the opposition.

He spoke of the party's conclusion that the constitutional body must now come forward on constitutional basis.

He appealed against polarization in parliament and maintaining the regular schedule in line with parliamentary tradition.

Secretary Bhattarai ruled out any possibility of UML obstructing the House procedure should the discussion on no-confidence motion precede the discussion on budget bills.

He underlined UML's resoluteness in the belief that discussion on budget bills should take place first and added the party would react on the same day if it did not happen.

The party has also urged all the other parties to forge national consensus for national interest, constitution's implementation, reconstruction campaign, election preparation and continuity of policies and programs and budget.

UML's another Secretary, Pradeep Kumar Gyawali, said that it was not a big thing for the PM to quit his post rather implement the new constitution and give continuity to achievements made in the international relations.

He added that UML has urged the other parties to come clear on the confusion regarding the constitutional provision on formation of a new government in case the no-confidence motion is endorsed. UML is ready to resolve the dispute through understanding, Gyawali added. RSS
