KATHMANDU, Dec 22: The parliamentary party meeting of the CPN-UML on Wednesday endorsed the decisions including giving up neutrality made by the central committee meeting last Thursday.

“The meeting endorsed the decisions,” party chairman Jhala Nath Khanal said after the meeting at Singha Durbar.[break]

The CC meeting has decided to give up neutrality stance in parliament by asking UCPN (Maoist) to withdraw proposals at the Special Session and Nepali Congress to withdraw Ram Chandra Paudel’s candidacy to prime ministerial post.

UML is demanding the conclusion of the special session in parliament for a regular session for the election of the new Prime Minister.

“If there is a consensus candidate among the parties, we will accept that,” chief whip Bhim Acharya said. “But if there is not, UML will claim the leadership in the government.”

The present government, which has resigned in June, is led by UML leader Madhav Kumar Nepal.

During the meeting, the lawmakers criticized the party leadership for speaking differences publicly and also for supporting the call for present government’s resignation.
