UML politburo meeting put off

KATHMANDU, Sept 9: The politburo meeting of CPN-UML scheduled for Thursday has been put off for until further notice due to general secretary Ishwar Pokharel´s poor health condition.



"We decided to defer the meeting as party general secretary himself couldn´t attend the meeting due to his health condition," party´s spokesman Pradip Gyawali told myrepublica.[break]



He said the party is yet to fix the next date for the meeting.



The meeting of UML, which has been sticking to its neutral position in the prime ministerial election, is likely to have heated debate in the issue.



UML Chairman Jhalanath Khanal is sticking to the party´s present neutral position while a faction led by party heavyweight KP Sharma Oli is for reviewing the decision.



In the recent days, Oli has argued the third-largest party should change its neutral position and make the ongoing prime ministerial election decisive during the next [eighth] round on September 26.
