Leaders closely involved in the selection of the candidates said they have already issued confirmation letters for candidates in 33 districts. [break]
“Today [Sunday], candidates from 33 districts from remote hills and mountain regions have been confirmed. They were given priority as they need more time to visit their districts,” UML leader Agni Kharel told Republica. “Rest of the candidates will be made public tomorrow [Monday].”
The UML confirmed candidates from some remote districts such as Solukhumbu, Taplejung, Sankhuwasabha, Bhojpur, Khotang, Bajura, Rukum and Rolpa, among others.
The party has finalized constituencies for top leaders as well. Leaders said that party chairman Jhalanath Khanal is going to contest from Ilam-1, Madhav Kumar Nepal from Kathmandu-2 and Rautahat-1, KP Sharma Oli from Jhapa-7, Bamdev Gautam from Pyuthan-1, Ishwar Pokharel from Kathmandu-5, Shankar Pokharel from Dang-4 and Bishnu Paudel from Rupandehi-4.
Leaders said, in remote districts, Aungnima Lama has been finalized as candidate from Solukhumbu, Bhupendra Thebe from Taplejung-1, Dambar Singh Tumbahamphe from Taplejung-2, Hemraj Ghimire from Sankhuwasabha-1, Rajendra Gautam from Sankhuwasabha-2 and Sherdhan Rai from Bhojpur-2.
PK Rai and Bishal Bhattarai have been selected from Udaypur 1 and 2 respectively.
Karna Thapa has been finalized as candidate from Bajura, Prakash Jwala from Salyan-2, Khemman Khadka and Thagendra Puri from Rukum-1 and 2, and Hit Bahadur Roka and Kumar Dashauli from Rolpa 1 and 2 respectively.
In Bagmati, Janardhan Dhakal is contesting from Rasuwa, Parbat Gurung from Dolakha-1, Arun Nepal, Subas Karmacharya and Sher Bahadur Tamang from Sindhupalchowk 1, 2 and 3 respectively, said the party´s Bagmati In-charge Pashupati Chaulagain.
Similarly, Ramhari Subedi is contesting from Kavre-2, Narayan Khatwada from Nuwakot-3 and Rajendra Prasad Pandey from Dhading-3.
