HETAUDA, March 24: The CPN-UML has quit the Bagmati Province government. Addressing the provincial assembly, the leader of the CPN-UML parliamentary party and Minister for Economic Affairs and Planning Jagannath Thapaliya submitted his resignation to Chief Minister Shalikram Jamkattel in the House.
Thapaliya said that the CPN-UML will now play the role of a strong opposition in the provincial assembly. He also said that the UML will not give a vote of confidence to Chief Minister Jamkattel.
UML quits Bagmati govt, withdraws support
In the provincial government, Thapaliya from UML was the Minister of Economic Affairs and Planning, Eklal Shrestha was the Minister for Labor Employment and Transport, Rameshwar Shrestha was the Minister for Health and Keshav Prasad Pokharel was the Minister for Agriculture and Livestock Development.
CPN (Maoist Center), CPN-UML and RPP had formed the provincial government on January 10 and the cabinet was given full shape on January 25.
Earlier, three ministers of RPP resigned from the provincial government on February 25 and the party also withdrew its support to the government. Chief Minister Jamkattel is taking the vote of confidence from the provincial assembly for a second time on Friday due to RPP’s exit from the provincial government.
