UML senior leader Madhav Kumar Nepal has said that anti-government demonstrations were inevitable to end the existing political transition.[break]
Addressing the party cadres´ meeting at the party central office, Balkhu, on Sunday, the UML leader said the present anti-government movement is not for gaining power but for safeguarding democracy, ending totalitarianism and end all sorts of anarchic activities in the country.
The leader also accused the UCPN (Maoist) and present government of plunging the country into serious crisis and added that the country could be a failure state if the present situation lasted for long.
Leader Nepal, who heavily criticized the Maoists during his speech, further charged the UCPN (Maoist) saying that the Maoists were increasing bitterness and inviting conflict in the country.
Also speaking at the same programme, UML standing committee KP Oli, a vocal critic of the Maoists, said extremist forces were pushing the country into a serious crisis.
Oli said the UCPN (Maoist) leaders dissolved the Constituent Assembly (CA) as there were no chances of drafting a pro-Maoist constitution.
Similarly, UML Vice-chairman Bamdev Gautam said the ongoing anti-government demonstrations should be made stern to defeat the Maoists´ totalitarian perception.
UML secretary Shankar Pokhrel, leaders Gangalal Tuladhar, Krishna Gopal Shrestha and others urged the party leaders to expedite the demonstrations.
