UML gen secy cancels visit to Sweden

KATHMANDU, Dec 5: CPN-UML General Secretary Ishwar Pokharel has cancelled his scheduled visit to Sweden citing his busy schedule in the country.



He said he didn´t think it appropriate to leave the country at a time when crucial political issues were under discussion. [break]



"Pokharel was set to lead the UML visiting team to Sweden, but he cancelled his visit saying the country is in a sensitive situation and due to his various responsibilities in the party," said a statement issued by his personal secretary Dipendra Shrestha.



Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal, UML Chairman Jhalanath Khanal and another top leader from the same party, KP Sharma Oli, are currently on foreign visits.



Pokharel chose to cancel his trip after the flurry of visits by most of the topmost leaders from the ruling party was widely criticized.
