KATHMANDU, Feb 18: Opposition parties including the main opposition CPN-UML have demanded the resignation of Physical Infrastructure and Transport Minister Prakash Jwala.

The UML protested saying that despite the conclusion of the investigation report that Minister Jwala was also guilty in the incident in which two people were killed in police firing at Balkumari in Lalitpur on January 13, no action was taken.

Speaking at the beginning of today's meeting of the House of Representatives, UML Whip Mahesh Bartaula demanded the resignation of Minister Jwala.

Rabi Lamichhane, chairman of RSP and Member of Parliament, who spoke after that, also asked for Minister Jwala's resignation.

As soon as Speaker Devraj Ghimire informed the House that the meeting had started, the MPs of CPN-UML and RSP rose from their seats and protested. After that, Speaker Ghimire gave time to UML Whip Mahesh Bartaula.

Speaking in the zero hour of the House of Representatives, Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) MP Dipak Bahadur Singh also demanded the resignation of Minister Jwala.

“The Commission of Inquiry has already found Minister Jwala guilty. The RPP demands that he be removed as a minister," he said.

In today's meeting, Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal and MPs have a question and answer agenda.
