UML decides not to give vote of confidence to Madhesh CM Yadav

JANAKPURDHAM, Feb 18: The CPN-UML has decided not to give a vote of confidence to Madhesh Province Chief Minister (CM) Saroj Kumar Yadav. The UML Parliamentary Party meeting held today decided not to give a vote of confidence to Chief Minister Yadav.

UML leader Saroj Yadav said that the party which had previously been supporting the coalition government led by CM Yadav decided not to give a vote of confidence to the provincial government during a meeting of the parliamentary party.

After the Janamat Party withdrew its support to the government, the UML, which is participating in the Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP)-led government, recalled its minister but continued to support the government. Now, the Chief Minister is seeking a vote of confidence in the Madhesh Provincial Assembly for a third time on Sunday.

The Chief Minister requires the support of 54 members out of the total 107 members of the province assembly for winning the vote of confidence. The CPN-UML has 23 members, the Nepali Congress 22 members, the Janata Samajwadi Party 18 members, the Janamat Party 13 members and the Loktantrik Samajbadi Party and the CPN (Maoist Center) nine members each, the CPN (Unified Socialist) has seven members while Nepal Sanghiya Samajwadi Party, the Nagarik Unmukti Party and the Rastriya Prajatantra Party each has one member. Three members are independent.

Currently, Nepali Congress, CPN (Maoist Center), CPN (Unified Socialists) and Loktantrik Samajwadi Party are participating in the JSP-led government.
