JHAPA, July 6: CPN-UML has claimed comeback victory in both mayoral and deputy-mayoral post in Shiva Satashi Municipality of Jhapa. The area, once believed to be the landmark of Nepali Congress (NC), now has elected the candidates of UML with landslide votes.
Chandra Kumar Sherma of UML garnered 14684 votes and has been elected as the mayor, defeating his nearest rival Parshuram Dhungana of NC, who got 9856 votes.

Likewise, Bhoj Kumari Nepal of UML has been elected as deputy-mayor with 14926 votes. Her nearest rival Jay Kumari Chemjong of NC garnered 9324 votes.
UML has won whole panels in nine wards out 11 in the municipality. NC has won two wards whereas CPN (Maoist-Center) could not stamp in the municipality.
With the latest result from Shiva Satashi Municipality, it is certain that UML will be the largest party in the district.
