KATHMANDU, April 23: Chairman of Communist Party of Nepal (Unified Marxist-Leninist), Jhala Nath Khanal, arrived home Thursday morning, cutting short his weeklong visit to China.
He returned home in view of the rapid political scenario developed in the past couple of days. Khanal was supposed to return home Saturday. “He arrived home and now he is busy consulting with senior party leaders at the party head office in Balkhu,” a UML member Surya Thapa told myrepublica.com.

He has started consultations with vice chairpersons, general secretary and other senior members. Leaders of the second largest ruling party,CPN UML, were clearly divided on the controversy over the action initiated by the government against Nepal Army (NA) Chief Rookmangud Katawal.
A clear division surfaced in the party over the issue with the party establishment led by Khanal siding with the largest ruling party Unified CPN (Maoist) and another faction led by KP Sharma Oli vehemently opposing the Maoists.
Senior UML leader Madhav Kumar Nepal, too, is publicly opposing the Maoist decision to sack the army chief and his role has been taken as a middleman between two factions.
