The cake cost Rs. 90,000 and 2,100 eggs, 40 kilo of sugar, 40 kilo flour and 25 liters of fresh cream went into its making. The 24 feet high and 2 feet wide cake, which was baked in sections, was joined vertically along the tops of six tables. Resham Panthi, the organizer of the big cake bake, says, “I myself saw to the making of this huge piece of cake.” The cake was decorated with flowers.
The cake was a center of attraction for locals and for UML cadres.

They had initially decided to make the cake in the shape of the map of Nepal but it was thought that cutting the cake would then seem like cutting away parts of the country.
According to President of UML Pokhara Committee Madan Kaji Shrestha, the program organizer, unless the big three political parties of the country join hands, it will be impossible to foster peace. It was to spread this message that they planned a three-quintal cake.
“We had previously planned a five-quintal cake,” Shrestha adds, “But later we decided to reduce the size. We hope this can help a bit to foster peace in the country.” Although district level leaders of the Nepali Congress were present at the function, the Maoists were absent.
CPN-UML leader KP Sharma Oli, who was chief guest, cut the cake. Oli encouraged the organizing of such events.
