Uma Singh's mother gets threats to withdraw charges

BARDIBAS, Dec 16: A little known armed outfit operating in the Terai has threatened Sushila Devi Singh, the mother of slain journalist Uma Singh, to withdraw a case she has filed on the police against the murder of her daughter.



In a press note circulated by the group in Jaleshwor of Mahottari, the Terai Ekata Parishad has threatened Sushila Devi to withdraw the case. In the note, the group stated that its meeting chaired by group’s chairman Swamijee Yadav at an unknown location in Bihar of India decided to ask Sushiladevi to withdraw the case.



The group has threatened to capture all land belonging to her if she did not withdraw the case.



In the note, the group has also threatened of physical action against district education officer of Siraha, district engineer of Dhanusha and chief executive officer of Janakpur Municipality, accusing them of financial irregularities.



Swamijee Yadav is an accused in the killing of Uma Singh.
