During the meeting with high level government authorities on Monday, the delegation led by Sabe Tibbitts also stressed on easy access to business related information for investors so as to make them more familiar about the investment climate in Nepal.[break]
According to an official privy to the meeting, Energy Minister Post Bahadur Bogati assured the delegation of protection to foreign investments and urged the members to invest in hydropower projects that have high potential.
On the occasion representatives from Hydroplan UK and Mott Mac Donald said British investors were interested to put their money in small and middle- sized hydropower projects in Nepal.
The British delegation also met the Governor of Nepal Rastra Bank Yuba Raj Khatiwada and discussed the problems of inflow of remittances to Nepal through informal channel, issues of due diligence and measures to regulate the financial system in Nepal.
Anil Kumar Jha, the industry minister, also apprised UK business people about the Nepal government preparation to set up Export Processing Zone (EPZ) and Special Economic Zone (SEZ) to facilitate industries and exporters.
The delegation also met former finance ministers Dr Ram Sharan Mahat and Surendra Pandey, Maoist lawmaker Dr Dilli Raj Khanal and leader of Madhesi People´s Rights Forum (MPRF) Ratneshwore Lal Kayastha and sought their commitment to boost foreign investment in Nepal.
The UK trade delegation arrived in Nepal on Thursday for a five-day visit.
