KATARI, Feb 27: The people of Udayapur have submitted a memorandum to Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal, demanding the establishment of a medical college in Katari Municipality.

PM Dahal was handed over the memorandum on Monday, reminding him of the government's commitment to set up a medical college in each province. For Koshi Province, they suggested Katari as the best place.

An all-party delegation reached the PM's Office and submitted the memorandum. Handing over the memorandum, the mayor of Katari Municipality, Rajesh Chandra Shrestha, said, "A study team formed by the education ministry has already conducted a study at Katari-3. From the viewpoints of geographical location, population and proximity, Katari Municipality is an appropriate place to have a medical institution."

On the occasion, PM Dahal responded that he was positive about the demand, according to Mayor Shrestha.

The delegation had also submitted an attention letter to Minister for Education, Science and Technology, Ashok Kumar Rai, for the same cause.

It is learnt that the lawmakers from Sindhuli, Okhaldhunga, Khotang and Solukhumbu districts have also supported the bid for a medical college in Katari.
