Dahal argued that the absence of any formal complaint against Minister for Land Reforms Prabhu Sah makes it evident that the latter was not involved in the murder of Kashi Nath Tiwari. [break]
“Attempts are being made to frame Sah on trumped up charges. So we held a meeting of the parliamentary board and decided to defend him,” Dahal told media persons at his residence in Naya Bazaar.
He argued that many of his party cadres were murdered in the Tarai and the cases were never taken seriously. “Sah is being framed due to “political prejudices”, Dahal added.
Taking to media persons, Dahal argued that Minister for Defense Sarat Singh Bhandari should resign as he made a controversial statement against national sovereignty.
“I have told the leaders of the Madhesi front that it would be better for Bhandari to resign,” he said, adding that the parliamentary board also decided to ask the government to make its views clear on the issue. He, however, added that the party is not for making Bhandari resign under compulsion.
“The party and the government are not the same. He may resign on the advice of the Madhesi front,” he said.
The Maoist chairman also said that the talks with the Nepali Congress (NC) and the CPN-UML are moving in positive direction.
“There has been progress on the issues of peace and constitution. A draft constitution would come out by Nov 30,” he said, adding that his party would move ahead responsibly to conclude the peace process.
He, however, did not disclose the issues that the parties have already agreed upon. He also asked the media to be sensitive toward such issues.
The Maoist chairman argued that the party had united after the meeting of the top office bearers on Wednesday. “The party has united again. The intra-party contradiction had reached its culmination and transformed into unity,” he said.
