UAE set target of 115 runs for Nepal

The UAE has set a target of 115 runs for Nepal in the ICC Women's T20 World Cup Asia Qualifier Super-3 match.

KATHMANDU, May 19: The UAE has set a target of 115 runs for Nepal in the ICC Women's T20 World Cup Asia Qualifier Super-3 match.


The match, held in Bangkok, Thailand, began with Nepal winning the toss and choosing to field. Batting first, the UAE scored 114 runs for the loss of 7 wickets.

For the UAE, captain and opener Esha Oza played a key innings, scoring 39 runs off 39 balls with 2 fours and a six before being caught by Manisha Upadhyay in the 13th over. Fellow opener and wicketkeeper Theertha Satish contributed 21 runs off 32 balls. Lavanya Keny added 12 runs, while Heena Hotchandani contributed 20 runs.


In Nepal’s bowling attack, Manisha Upadhyay was the standout performer, taking 4 wickets for 20 runs in her 4-over spell. Kabita Kunwar claimed 2 wickets in the final over, and Rajmati Airee took 1 wicket.


Nepal had earlier advanced to the Super-3 stage by topping Group ‘C’. Hosts Thailand (Group ‘A’ winner) and the UAE (Group ‘B’ winner) also qualified for the Super-3.


Out of the three teams that have reached the Super-3 stage — Nepal, Thailand, and the UAE — the top two will qualify for the Global Qualifier of the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup.


In the Super-3 round, each team will face the other two teams once. Additionally, the points earned during the group stage will be carried forward and added to the Super-3 standings.
