The initiative is part of the country’s broader strategy to promote sustainable workplace practices and reduce heat-related illnesses. Workers in sectors such as construction, landscaping, and delivery services are particularly affected by high temperatures, making the ban crucial in preventing heat exhaustion, dehydration, and other related conditions.

Authorities have called on employers to strictly adhere to the regulations and to take additional steps to ensure worker safety. These include providing shaded rest areas, ensuring access to drinking water, and scheduling work during cooler hours of the day.

The public is also encouraged to report any violations. According to the UAE Embassy in Kathmandu, the measure highlights the UAE’s leadership in labour rights and occupational health, reflecting its dedication to fostering a safe, humane, and sustainable work environment.
