BARDIYA, March 20: Two women died on Monday after being attacked by a tiger in Chiraute Community Forest of Madhuban Municipality-5 in Bardiya district.
Dronraj Sharma, information officer of the Division Forest Office, said that the incident took place in the Chiraute Community Forest, which lies in the Nepal-India border area.
Information Officer Sharma said that Samundri Budha Chhetri, 55, and Dhansari Gurung, 50, of Madhuban Municipality-5, who went to the forest looking for firewood, were killed in the attack. Bodies of both the victims have been found.
Teams from the Divisional Forest Office, National Park and Nepal Police have reached the incident site. Information Officer Sharma said that the bodies have been taken to Bardiya Hospital for post-mortem.
