Two PLA deserters held with arms

BUTWAL, Oct 12: Police in Kapilvastu arrested two Maoist combatants who deserted the Maoist cantonment with weapons on Sunday night.



Dhir Bahadur Pariyar aka Bhoomi of Garjyangkot VDC-2, Jumla, and Ganesh Bhandari aka Aakrosh were arrested with one home-made pistol, three rounds of bullets and three khukuris from Rajpur Tapke in Banganga VDC-6.



The two had fled from the Krishnasen Memorial Brigade in Sainamaina of Rupandehi a few months ago.



They said they had joined the CPN (Maoist) led by Matrika Yadav after deserting the PLA, according to Superintendent of Police Bikram Singh Thapa.



Locals of Banganga VDC had informed the police about the two after seeing them with weapons during a dispute with a local, Jeevan Chhetri. A joint team of Nepal Police and Armed Police Force had later raided one Mahadev Chaudhary´s house and arrested them.
