KATHMANDU, Sept 23: Nira Devi Jairu has been elected the president of the Federal Parliament's Committee on Implementation, Monitoring and Evaluation of State's Directive Principles, Polices and Responsibilities.
At today's Committee meeting, lawmaker Ganesh Singh Thagunna proposed the name of Jairu as the Committee head and the proposal was backed by lawmaker Prabhu Sah. The election was unopposed and Committee senior-most member Radheshyam Adhikari chaired the meeting. Following the election, the newly elected president thanked all the lawmakers for electing her on the post unopposed, hoping to get support in the future as well to do her role effectively.

The joint committee has 15 members- 12 from the House of Representatives (lower house) and three from the National Assembly (upper house).
Similarly, Laxman Lal Karna has been elected the president of the Parliamentary Hearing Committee. He is the senior most member on the Committee. In a meeting of the Committee held today, lawmaker Amrita Thapa proposed his candidacy which was backed by lawmakers Yogesh Bhattarai, Shiba Kumar Mandal and Nirudevi Pal.
