KATHMANDU, Jan 20: A total of two million syringes donated by China have arrived in Nepal on Saturday.
The syringes were brought to Nepal through land route via Rasuwagadhi Custom point. Chinese officials handed over the vaccines to Nepali officials amid a function held at the Custom Point.
The Embassy of China had earlier announced to provide 2 million syringes under grant amid shortage of syringes to administer COVID-19 vaccines in Nepal. [I am] Glad to learn 2 million syringes granted by the Chinese Embassy have been delivered today. Hope they will contribute to the ongoing vaccination campaign! China always stands ready to support our Nepali friends!" Chinese Ambassador to Nepal Hou Yanqi tweeted on Saturday.
Chinese Embassy Spokesperson in a press statement said China fully empathizes with Nepali people suffering from the recent pandemic. "With a view to helping Nepal in its fight against the pandemic and realizing its economic recovery, China will keep close coordination with Nepal and provide assistance in anti-pandemic supplies within its capacity," the spokesperson said.
