2 killed, 7 injured in Gorkha jeep accident

GORKHA, April 4: Two people died and seven were injured in a road accident in Gorkha district on Saturday evening.

The incident took place when a jeep (Na 5 Cha 3298) en route to Salikot Rural Municipality from Barpak fell some 200 meters down the road. The deceased have been identified as Thakur Duwadi, 48, and Rameshwar Neupane, 50, of Bichaur in Dudhpokhari Rural Municipality-2, Lamjung district, according to the District Police Office (DPO).

Deputy Superintendent of Police at the DPO, Gorkha Prakash Dahal said that seven people were injured in the accident. "Of the injured, two are undergoing treatment and their condition is critical, Dahal said. Critically injured Bishnu Neupane, 31, and Anil Marhatta, 28, of Dudhpokhari Rural Municipality-2, Lamjung district, are receiving treatment in Chitwan.

Amrit Duwadi, 18, Bishnu Duwadi, 30, Bishnu Duwadi, 29, of the same locality, Santosh Tamang, 20, of Beshisahar Municipality-1 and Suhil Naral of Byas Municipality-1, Tanahu, are undergoing treatment at Gorkha Hospital, Gorkha. The victims were on a tour to Barpak hiring a jeep.
