GORKHA, Oct 10: A road section linking Barpak and Laprak of Gorkha district has been obstructed for the past three months.

GORKHA, May 27: The second wave of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) infection has spiked in Sulikot Rural Municipality of Barpak, Gorkha. According to the locals, the deceased in the municipality had all shown symptoms of COVID-19.

BARPAK, May 10: Barpak, a village situated in the Northern part of Gorkha, was the epicenter of 2015’s earthquakes. The 7.8 magnitude earthquake killed and injured many people and left all the families residing in the quaint village homeless. Locals claim that almost 1500 houses were destroyed.

GORKHA, Jan 29: Reconstruction in Barpak, the epicenter of the Gorkha Earthquake is encouraging as compared to other parts of the district, officials involved in the efforts claimed.  According to Ram Sharan Acharya, chief of the reconstruction unit in Gorkha, reconstruction in Barpak is ahead of all areas in the district.

GORKHA, Dec. 9: A free health camp was organized at Barpak Sulikot Rural Municipality-1 in Gorkha district on Saturday. A total of 423 locals received the free health care services from the camp jointly organized by the rural municipality office and Rotary of Bajra Manaslu, Gorkha.

GORKHA, Nov 4: The construction of the much-hyped Earthquake Memorial Park in Barpak, the epicenter of the catastrophic earthquake of 2015, remains stalled halfway. As per the agreement, the project should have been completed by now. However, only 30% of the work has been done so far.

GORKHA, May 17: Snail paced progress on the blacktopping of road in Barpak, the epicenter of the earthquakes of April 2015, has left the locals to continue with travel woes. The project was supposed to complete by now, however owing to the dillydallying by the contractors, not even the graveling of the road has begun so far. With the onset of monsoon season, dusty roads of this area have now become even worse.

GORKHA, April 27: As April 25, 2016, marked two years of the deadly Gorkha earthquake, President Bidhya Devi Bhandari reached Barpak, the epicenter, to lay the foundation stone for an earthquake memorial park. As per the plan, 28 quake-damaged houses of a dalit community would be conserved in the park along with the debris. The whole intention was to allow tourists to observe and revisit the situation of earthquake. But that has not been possible till now due to the differences in opinion of locals.

GORKHA, April 25: Hundreds of houses were reduced to rubble in Barpak, the epicenter of the catastrophic earthquake of 2015. Three years on, only 509 out of the 1,400 houses destroyed have been reconstructed. Another 429 houses are under construction while the inhabitants of the others are still under makeshift tents.

KATHMANDU, August 16: Common cold and seasonal influenza that has spread for the past 10 days has taken its toll on Barpak of Gorkha district, the epicenter of the Gorkha earthquake of April 2015, causing a death of a three-year-old child and taking more than 300 others ill.

GORKHA, July 6: A plan has been approved to construct an earthquake memorial park at Barpak, the epicenter of the April 2015 Gorkha earthquake. The Department of Urban Development and Building Construction (DUDBC) divisional office in the district has estimated the park construction cost at around Rs 180 million.

BARPAK (GORKHA), Oct 25: Barpak village development committee in Gorkha, which had lost many lives and houses to earthquakes last April, has started to recover.

KATHMANDU, Aug 28: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal today said efforts will be undertaken to develop Barpak, the epicenter of the massive earthquake of April 25, 2015, as an international tourist destination.

GORKHA, Aug 16: Dozens of landslides occurred of late have obstructed the Barpak road of Gorkha for the past one-and-a-half months.
