Ganga Darnal, 26, of Damak-11, Jhapa and Bhimkumari Shiva, 15, of Hwaku, Tehrathum were killed in the fire that broke out at around 9 pm in Swagat Hotel.
The duo had been staying at the lodge in course of their journey from Tehrathum to Jhapa, said Suman Darji who was rescued alive by the locals.
It took the locals, Armed Police Force, Nepal Police and Nepal Army, almost three hours to bring the fire under control.
Five houses in the vicinity had to be destroyed to bring the fire under control and prevent it from spreading.
Police said the lodge might have caught fire due to short circuit.
