Two killed after being buried during road excavation

BAGLUNG, Oct 5: Two people were killed after a mound of earth collapsed on them while a JCB was excavating a road in Bohragaun, Nisikhola Rural Municipality-3.



District Police Office Chief Phadindra Prasai said the incident occurred along the inner road from Jhivakhola to Bohragaun. Three workers were buried when a mound of earth suddenly collapsed while the road was being upgraded using a JCB (Lu 1 Ka 3446) operated by driver Bhadra Malla.

The deceased have been identified as Lal Bahadur Budhathoki, 25, of Salyan, and Raju Thapa Magar of Udayapur. The third worker, Krishna Bahadur Gharti of Rolpa, was rescued in critical condition and rushed to a nearby medical facility.


Budhathoki and Magar died on the spot.


Further investigation into the incident is underway, police said.
