KATHMANDU, Dec 16: The Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has filed a corruption charge sheet in the Special Court, Kathmandu against two non-gazetted first class officers Ashok Kumar Yadav and Dinesh Prasad Shah working in the District Administration Office (DAO), Mahottari.
A team deployed from Bardibas office of the CIAA arrested officer Ashok Kumar Yadav after he was caught taking a bribe of Rs 20,000 from a service seeker. It has been confirmed that they take money under the pretext of facilitating the payment of funeral rites and compensation to the families of those who died in road accidents.
Two officers held on charge of taking bribes in Dailekh
The investigation was initiated after a complaint was received by the CIAA that Yadav and Shah jointly demanded money from a service seeker in the name of facilitating funeral rites and compensation to the families of those who died in road accidents. Yadav was caught red-handed while accepting the bribe.
The CIAA demanded imprisonment and fine in accordance with the Subsection (1) of Section 3 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 2059 BS.
Narahari Ghimire, Spokesperson of the CIAA, said that the commission has zero tolerance towards the act of asking for bribes from the service users in government offices and legal action will be taken impartially against those found guilty.
