BANIYANI, Dec 31: Police here on Saturday presented before the media two youth who attempted rape on a woman and also tried to extort money by making an obscene video of her. 

The two people arrested on the charge of attempted rape and extortion are 17-year-old Bijaya Bahadur Magar and Nabin Dangi, 17, of Salbadi, Arjundhara-9. They, along with one other accomplice, had assaulted a 35-year-old woman who had come here from the neighboring Ilam district to meet her relatives. 

The youths, police said, had tried to rape the woman at knife-point. They had threatened her to submit by showing khukuri, the traditional Nepali knife. The police have not disclosed the victim's name. 

Police said they are searching for one accomplice who is absconding. The incident happened on Thursday. 

According to police, the woman was pillion riding on the motorcycle which was driven by her brother (the son of her relative). They were on their way to Ilam when the assailants stopped their motorcycle inside the Giribandhu tea estate at Arjundhara Municipality-11, threatening them by brandishing the khukuri. They also are learned to have beaten the woman and the man giving her the ride. 

Police said the youths forced the person riding the motorcycle to kiss the woman and made a video of this. They then had asked for money from the woman and that person saying that they would upload the video to social sites like Facebook and others. The three assailants had also tried to rape the woman. 

Deputy Superintendent of Police Koirala said that the obscene video that they filmed is with the police. 

When the victims said that they did not have that much money which the assailants had asked with them and that they could only give them Rs 10 thousand and they will have to bring the rest from a bank, the assailants snatched the motorcycle key and took the woman and the motorcycle to a desolate place in the tea estate and had sent the person riding the motorcycle with their one friend as an escort to the bank to get the money. 

However, the victim's brother managed to befool the person who was accompanying him on the way to the bank and reached the Area Police Office, Birtamod where he informed the police about the incident. 

When police reached the site of the incident, the woman was found naked, police said. Police had immediately arrested Dangi and Magar from the site.
