KATHMANDU, May 17: Two cases of dengue fever have been reported at Shukraraj Tropical and Infectious Disease Hospital, Teku, Kathmandu.

“A policeman returning from a mission in Haiti and a man who had recently returned from Dhangadhi had contracted dengue. Both of them have recovered now,” Dr Basu Dev Pandey of the hospital said.

The tropical disease was detected in the Tarai and inner-Tarai districts some five years ago but no cases had been found in Kathmandu yet.

“We had also found a few such imported cases of dengue in the past but have yet to find any case in Kathmandu,” senior epidemiologist at the Epidemiology and Disease Control Division Dr Bishwaraj Khanal said.
