KATHMANDU, Feb 27: A two-day international conference on digital crime control began in Kathmandu on Thursday.
The conference organized by the Office of The Attorney General and attended by representatives from 13 countries began on Thursday. Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli inaugurated the conference amidst a special ceremony.

At the conference, Supreme Court Justice Sapna Pradhan Malla said that the government should control all types of crimes committed through digital means. Stating that cases of crimes committed through digital means are now increasing in the courts, she said that it is necessary for various social media platforms to be registered based on the laws of the country in order to curb digital crimes.
Attorney General Ramesh Badal said that there will be discussions on digital crime, its trends, research and justice. He said that the conference is being organized with the aim of international experience exchange and institutional capacity improvement.
The conference will focus on technology-based sexual violence and abuse, cybercrime, cryptocurrency and digital economic crimes, and crimes committed through the use of AI. The conference is attended by researchers, criminologists, AI experts, prosecutors, legal experts, and judges from countries including Nepal, India, China, Sri Lanka, and the UK.
