MORANG, July 9: The Armed Police Force (APF) has arrested an Indian national and a Nepali national in possession of banned Indian currency notes amounting to Rs 400,000. The arrests took place at separate locations in Biratnagar.
The individuals arrested are Raunak Agrawal, 24, of Biratnagar Municipality, and Gautam Kumar Kedia, 36, of Sonapatti-23, Bhagalpur, India.

Agrawal was apprehended by the APF team from Biratnagar-17 on Monday evening with IRs 317,000. According to DSP Loknath Upreti, Acting Chief of the Armed Police Force Morang, Agrawal, who entered Nepal from Jogbani, India via Materuwa, on a motorcycle (Pra 1-02-051 Pa 1939), was found with 400 notes of Rs 500 denomination during a routine check.
Similarly, DSP Upreti reported that Kedia, an Indian citizen, was arrested with Rs 117,444 in banned Indian notes. Kedia, who was entering Nepal on foot from Jogbani, was detained at Border-2 in Biratnagar-15. He was found carrying 181 notes of Rs 500, 60 notes of Rs 200, 150 notes of Rs 100, 40 notes of Rs 50, 36 notes of Rs 20, 40 notes of Rs 10, and Indian coins.
It is suspected that the money recovered from Agrawal and Kedia may be linked to illegal hundi business. The Armed Police Force has handed both individuals over to the Revenue Investigation Office in Itahari for further investigation and action. Indian notes above Rs 500 are banned in Nepal.
