Two arrested in possession of illegal gold from TIA

KATHMANDU, Sept 10: Police have arrested two individuals along with gold that was brought illegally from abroad. They were arrested from the parking area of the Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA).

KATHMANDU, Sept 10: Police have arrested two individuals along with gold that was brought illegally from abroad. They were arrested from the parking area of the Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA).


The arrested individuals have been identified as Samir Ahamadh, 31, from Bangesar, Sarumarani Rural Municipality-1, Pyuthan and Dev Raj Khatri, 30, from Diprung Rural Municipality-5, Khotang.

Police recovered a lump of gold weighing about 54 grams and a spiral ring from Samir, who had come to Kathmandu from Doha on Himalaya Airlines. Similarly, police arrested Dev Raj along with about 25 grams of gold, while attempting to illegally collect gold by involving passengers to evade customs. 


Police said that the arrested individuals have been handed over to the TIA Customs Office for necessary investigation and action.
