In the boys´ section, Sarad Robertson contributed the highest 23 points as White House defeated Gurukul 88-61. White House led all four quarters and sealed a comfortable win with the scores of 21-16, 23-12, 19-14, 25-19.
Similarly, the girls´ team of White House registered a 33-23 win over Gurukul riding on nine points from Sujata Rai. White House dominated the match taking all four quarters 9-7, 10-9, 7-4, 7-3.
In another boys´ match, Golden Gate overcame Morgan 79-69. Golden Gate led the first and second quarters 22-19, 23-16. Morgan bounced back to take the third quarter 19-13. However, Morgan went down 21-15 in the fourth quarter. Rohit Lama netted 17 points for the winning team.
Golden Gate coach Bipin Kapali said that his side faced a hard time to beat the youth team of Morgan. "Morgan is studded with rising stars. We have experienced players and the combination of experience and power made the victory possible," said Kapali. "Opponent team committed mistakes due to lack of experience which helped us take the match under control."
Morgan is studded with players like U-19 skipper Siddhartha Shrestha, Saurav Shrestha, Asim Shrestha and Ayush Singh. Siddhartha scored 18 points and Asim netted 15 points for Morgan.
Morgan skipper Saurav, who contributed the highest 29 points, pointed out flaws in his side´s strategy. "It was difficult to play without a coach," said Saurav, adding that the absence of his team´s key player Siddhartha in the last quarter also made things difficult for them. Siddhartha was sent off for committing five fouls. "We displayed fighting spirit until the last quarter but came under pressure after Siddhartha was sent off," said Saurav.
