Almost 200 staffers including health workers have already contracted COVID-19
KATHMANDU, Sep 29: A staffer of the Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital (TUTH) died of the novel coronavirus disease COVID-19 on Tuesday morning.
The 58-year-old hospital staffer, who was also suffering from asthma, died soon after his ventilator support was removed, according to Dr Santa Kumar Das, COVID-19 focal person of the hospital.
“As she was an asthma patient, the hospital management had granted her leave to stay home. She contracted the virus at her home,” said Das, adding that the staffer was admitted to the hospital on September 19. He further added that all her family members are COVID-19 positive.
“She was on ventilator support. After her health condition started to improve, the ventilator support was discontinued. But, she succumbed to the virus,” he said.
In the meantime, almost 200 staffers including health workers of the hospital have already contracted COVID-19.
