KATHMANDU, Jan 18: US President-elect Donald Trump spoke to Chinese President Xi Jinping via phone before his inauguration on January 20. The two leaders discussed a variety of issues, including the US ban on TikTok. The conversation between Trump and Xi is expected to be beneficial for both countries.
Vice President Han Zheng will attend the inauguration ceremony on behalf of China. Trump wrote on his social account, "I hope we will solve many problems together and get to work efficiently." He said that the talks covered trade balance, TikTok and other issues. He added, "President Xi Jinping and I will do everything we can to make the world a peaceful and safe place."

The Chinese Foreign Ministry congratulated Trump on his second term and emphasized the need to better US-China relations. The phone call took place on the same day that the US Supreme Court ruled in favor of the TikTok ban.
