KATHMANDU, Jan 13: The world-famous travel website 'Tripadvisor' has declared Kathmandu, the federal capital of Nepal, as the best natural destination in the world.

Tripadvisor announced 'Tripadvisor’s Traveler's Choice Awards-2024' in seven categories and placed Kathmandu on the first spot in list of natural destinations for the year 2024.

Kathmandu is ranked number one among the top 10 natural destinations in the world. Tripadvisor has announced the best of the best destinations in 2024 in seven categories. Out of which 10 are best destinations, natural destinations, trending destinations, cultural destinations, food destinations, honeymoon destinations and sustainable destinations.

Similarly, Tripadvisor has ranked Kathmandu at number 24 among the best 25 destinations in the world. Tripadvisor is the world's largest travel guidance platform, which has been helping in travel booking, destination selection and planning.

Mani Raj Lamichhane, director of Nepal Tourism Board (NTB), said that this will contribute significantly to the promotion of Nepal's destination. He said, “Trip Advisor has been classifying different destinations in the world every year based on the reviews and feedback of millions of consumers. This time, Nepal has listed Kathmandu as the best destination among the seven categories, this will have a positive effect on the tourism promotion of Nepal, which is recovering after the Covid-19 pandemic.”

Director Lamichhane expressed his belief that the plan to double the number of foreign tourists visiting Nepal next year announced by the Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal will help to succeed in the government's one-year tenure.

According to the statistics of the NTB, 10,14,882 foreign tourists visited Nepal in 2023.

New York Times lists ‘Mustang’ in list of 37 tourist destinations to visit in 2024

The famous American newspaper "The New York Times" has included Nepal's Mustang in the list of must-visit destinations around the world in 2024. The New York Times has cataloged the Mustang, publishing a list of 52 places around the world. 

The New York Times has included Mustang, a tourist area known as Nepal's Trans-Mountain District. As an ancient Himalayan kingdom located in the northern region, Mustang has preserved its rurality and culture for centuries, the New York Times mentioned.

Earlier last May, CNN also included Mustang in the list of 23 must-visit places in the world. CNN also mentioned that there is a famous prehistoric trail for mountain trekking while introducing the Mustang.

Mustang is a religious, archaeological and tourist destination. The famous religious place Muktinath of Mustang is also a heritage site that attracts religious tourists. Historical and legendary Lo Manthang is another attraction.
