KATHMANDU, Sept 24: A memorial service was organized in Kathmandu on Saturday, commemorating the conservationists who died in Ghunsa helicopter mishap 11 years ago in the eastern mountainous district of Taplejung.
Twenty-four Nepalis and foreign nationals, including foreign ambassadors, diplomats, dignitaries, and conservationists had died in the accident. Those losing their lives in the accident included then state minister Gopal Rai and renowned conservationist Dr. Harka Gurung.
Ghunsa people leave settlement to avoid severe cold
Water Resources and Environment Protection Fund Nepal organized the memorial event in Ramkot of Kathmandu..
“We gather each year to pay tribute to those who lost their lives in the Ghunsa incident,” said Pushpa Raj Pandey, president of the Fund.
