Transporters shut down west Nepal

DANG, Oct 4: Public transportation remains closed in Dang and other districts of Rapti since early morning Monday, due to the mid and far-western bandh called by the transport workers association in protest against the murder of their colleague.



Daily life in Dang, Salyan, Pyuthan, Rukum and Rolpa has been affected as a result of the bandh and many people coming home for Dashain from far off places have been stranded, the Rapti Zonal Police Office, Tulsipur said. [break]



Bus driver Wakil Budathoki was thrown into the river by the locals after the bus he was driving killed a girl child in Rakam VDC of Surkhet on September 12.



Ever since, the transport workers have been organising a series of protest programs calling for action against those involved in the murder of Budhathoki and compensation to the affected family.
