MYAGDI, Aug 5: Transport entrepreneurs of Myagdi have halted traffic on the Beni-Jomsom road in protest against the failure of the authorities concerned to renovate the road blocked by landslides, Sunday.

The transport entrepreneurs resorted to the strike accusing the Department of Roads of showing no urgency in repairing the road swept away at Bhirkote and other sections by the Dewa and Kali Gandaki rivers since July 29.[break]

The Myagdi Bus and Jeep Entrepreneurs Committee has suspended operation of public transport on the road since Sunday. Even regular traffic from Beni to Bhirkot has been halted. As a result, all means of public transport currently available at different road sections of the Beni-Jomson road has come to a complete halt.

A large number of devotees and tourists visiting Muktinath and the region have been stranded.
