Trained team deployed to search three missing French climbers in Everest region

KATHMANDU, Nov 8: A group of 14 trained French nationals has been deployed in the Everest region to search for the missing French nationals.


The trained team has been deployed to search for the three French nationals who went missing while climbing Khangtega peak standing an altitude of 6,782 meters, said Rishi Raj Dhakal, Inspector at the District Police Office, Solukhumbu. The climbers have been missing for the past 13 days.

According to him, a team of 14 trained French nationals reached Khumbu by helicopter on Sunday. Inspector Dhakal informed Republica that the team has started work from Monday. He said that the search operation could not start on Sunday due to inclement weather.


An eight-member team, including three missing persons, had come to Lukla on October 4 to climb Mount Khangtega through the Holiday Himalaya Trek and Expedition Pvt Ltd. Among them Thomas, Gabriel, and Louis went out of contact on October 26.
