Inspector General of Nepal Police Ramesh Chanda Thakuri inaugurated the campaign amid a function at MTPD, Ramshahpath.
Altogether 503 Eurasia Reiyukai volunteers along with traffic personnel will jointly work on the campaign. Mikes, pamphlets and banners will be used to create awareness about traffic rules on Sunday and Monday.
The volunteers will be stationed at 32 major road intersections in the Valley from 8:30 a.m. to 11 am and 4 p.m. to 6:30 pm until Friday to help enforce traffic rules. According to organizers, the campaign would end Friday and health checkup of the volunteers will be done on Saturday.

Addressing the function, IGP Thakuri said coordinated efforts by all stakeholders including the Department of Roads, Department Transport Management, traffic police, transport operators, concerned metropolis and municipalities and ordinary public is needed to help ease the traffic congestion in the Valley. He directed police personnel to effectively work toward implementing law to ensure rule of law in the country.

On the occasion, Senior Superintendent of Police Indra Prasad Neupane, chief of MTPD, Ramshahpath, said traffic management in Kathmandu Valley is getting difficult as the number vehicles has gone up almost by 300 percent over the last 15 years while the length of the roads remains almost unchanged.
He pointed out the need to spend at least 50 percent of revenue generated from transport sector for building roads to help improve traffic condition in the Valley.
