KATHMANDU, Nov 9: Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Office is going to conduct a one hour traffic awareness class for drivers who drive vehicles at high speed from December 1, 2022.
The office has been conducting traffic awareness classes to drivers, who drive vehicles under the influence of alcohol, violate lane discipline and to those who disobey traffic lights. The office has announced that it will conduct mandatory classes for drivers who drive vehicles at high speed starting next month.
Traffic Awareness Special Campaign launched
Spokesperson at the Valley Traffic Police Office Senior Superintendent of Police Rajendra Prasad Bhatt informed the media that the system of awareness class with fines is going to be started to minimize the accidents caused by high speed driving.
According to him, in the fiscal year 2078/79 BS, 3,543 accidents have occurred due to speeding and 649 accidents have occurred due to speeding in three months of the current year. Spokesperson Bhatt said that although 18,447 overspeeding drivers were punished in the Fiscal Year 2078/79 BS and 8,584 such drivers in the three months of the current year, they are going to conduct the class because of the lack of awareness among the drivers.
