LALITPUR, Oct 27: The ritualistic Kattik Naach, a traditional cultural dance dating back to the Malla-era in the medieval period, is to be performed here from November 16, the committee responsible for the preservation of Kattik Naach stated.

The Kattik Naach will be performed for 10 days at the Kattik Dabali, a traditional stage, located in the premises of the four Narayan temples at the Patan Durbar Square. In the beginning, this dance used to be performed for 27 days but these days it has been reduced to only 10 days owing to paucity of funds. It is stated that nearly 200 people are needed to perform the entire dance sequel, said Pratap Dhar Sharma Upadhyaya, Vice President of the committee.

It is believed that the Kattik Naach started 374 years back during the reign of king Siddhi Narsingh Malla.
