POKHARA, Sept 6: Nepali Ambassador to Malaysia Rishi Ram Adhikary has complained that it has been difficult to promote tourism to Nepal in Malaysia due to lack of support from the government. He said that though the Nepal Tourism Year 2011 is closing in, the government is yet to launch programs for purpose of promoting tourism.

“My individual efforts alone will not yield results,” he said addressing a group of tourism entrepreneur who are visiting Malaysia soon and added that he was in the need of strong support from government to promote Nepal´s tourism potentials abroad. [break]

He also claimed that Nepal had recently failed to participate in the Malaysia Travel Fair (MATA) due lack of substantial support from the government.

Adhikary also rued that lack of adequate budget had him unable to launch activities related to promoting tourism in Malaysia. “Because of the lack of budget, many planned activities have not been implemented effectively,” he said.

He opined that Malaysian nationals can be attracted to Nepal in a large scale, if Nepal was promoted in the East Asian market as the birth place of Buddha.
