KATHMANDU, July 24: Kalpana Pariyar, a shooting player representing Nepal in Tokyo Summer Olympics 2020 in Japan, has set a new national record.
Scoring 616.8 points in Women’s 10 meter Air Rifle Competition on Saturday, Pariyar set the new national record. Pariyar was able to score 102.2 points in the first series, 105.4 in the second, 101.0 in the third, 104.1 in the fourth, 103.4 in the fifth and 100.7 in the sixth series of the competition. However, Pariyar finished 46th out of 50 athletes and could not qualify for the next round.

Earlier, Pariyar had scored 614.5 points in the 13th South Asian Games (SAG), securing the fourth position. Pariyar had also set a national record at that time as well.
Pariyar, an athlete, of Tribhuvan Army Club was selected for the Olympics through wild card entry.
With this, representing Nepal, swimmers Gaurika Singh and Alex Shah, athlete Saraswathi Chaudary and Soniya Bhatta of Judo are scheduled to compete in the ongoing Tokyo Summer Olympics 2020.
Singh and Shah will be competing in women's and men's freestyle 100 meter respectively. RSS
