The TMDP called the strike against the government decision to establish integrated service centers outside the district headquarters of some Tarai districts.
All academic institutions remain shut and vehicles have also chosen to stay off the road in various districts including in Bara, Parsa and Rautahat.

According to our correspondent Suresh Kumar Yadav, the TMDP activists are staging a demonstration in Jaleshwor, the district headquarters of Mahottari, defying the curfew order. At least 12 persons including three police personnel have been injured in a clash that ensued Friday morning.
TMDP lawmaker Jitendra Sonal said they were forced to take to the streets as the government made ‘anti-people’ decision at a time when state-restructuring process is just underway.
Earlier on Thursday, Local Development Minister Ram Chandra Jha had clarified that the government move does not aim to relocate the district headquarters, but to provide relief to people who are unable get easy access to government services.
