The District Police Office, Dang, said that driver Arun Chaudhary of Rapti Rural Municipality-8 and the co-driver Aakash Chaudhary of Garhwa Rural Municipality-7 set their tipper truck on fire with the intention of blaming it on the banda enforcers and claiming the insurance money.

The tipper (RA 1 Kha 1694) caught fire on Tuesday morning at Kuirepani on the Ghorahi-Lamahi road section. The police discovered the fact that the tipper broke down and was kept at a garage for repair two days ago. So, they suspected that the fire was caused by the driver and the co-driver who were detained and questioned about the incident. They stated that an unknown group of four to five  people came and burned the vehicle and fled. Later, they accepted that they were the only ones who set the tipper truck on fire with the consent of the tipper owner Dhaneshwar Bhandari of Ghorahi-18.

"Initially we were suspicious about the incident and we questioned the driver and co-driver with suspicion," said Suresh Kafle, Superintendent of Police (SP) and Police Chief of Dang, "Later, they gave a statement that they torched the truck after the truck owner told them to do so”. According to SP Kafle, the police have also detained the owner of the vehicle.
