Timilsina appointed NSC vice-chairman<br/>Boxing championship begins next week

KATHMANDU, Oct 5: The Ministry of Youth and Sports appointed Pitambar Timilsina and Amar Chandra Anil as the vice-chairman and treasurer, respectively, of National Sports Council on Monday. The cabinet had appointed them as members of the council on September 21. [break]



Minister and NSC chairman Ganesh Tiwari Nepali picked Timilsina and Anil among ten newly appointed members for the major posts. Other members of the council are Rita Jha, Rita Kumari Thakur, Gita Shrestha, Minkrishna Maharjan, Kishor Rai, Khadga Bahadur Ranabhat, Satya Narayan Chaudhary and Rabindra Yadav.





Boxing championship begins next week



The Second Nationwide Open Boxing Championship-2066 is scheduled to kick off on October 10 at Jawalakhel, Lalitpur.



Preparations for the five-day event being organized by the Nepal Boxing Association in coordination with Lalitpur District Boxing Association are at the final stage, according to the Lalitpur Boxing Association.



At a press conference on Monday, the association said 200 players, including 36 females, of different clubs and three departmental teams -- Nepal Army, Nepal Police and Armed Police Force -- will compete in 16 weight categories.
