Timber smugglers clash with cops

GAUSHALA, June 18: Timber smugglers clashed with the police at a jungle in Hattilet VDC of Mahottari Friday morning.



The clash occurred after the smugglers attacked the police who tried to arrest them when the formers were caught felling trees in the jungle at around 4 am.



The police had to fire three rounds of bullets to take the situation under control but there was no human casualty, the police said.



The smugglers fled the scene after the police opened fire. The police have recovered saws and two bicycles from the clash site.
